Amjad Syed for Mayor
ENFR

An Ottawa with
more possibility.

The Canadian dream should feel within reach for the next generation, too.

The opportunity
to build a life.

A home. A livelihood. Room to plan for tomorrow.

Amjad’s vision is an Ottawa where everyday expenses leave people enough breathing room to look ahead, and where starting a business or owning a home feels possible.

He wants to bring practical business experience to public service: use the city’s resources well, create new opportunities and make services answerable to the people who rely on them.

Make the Canadian dream more attainable

Amjad’s proposed City-built housing program would use City-owned land and a non-profit development approach to offer homes at $250,000, with a purchase draw open to Ottawa families. Alongside it, his proposals for groceries, insurance, hospital parking and debt relief aim to reduce the pressure of everyday costs.

Back the people who build Ottawa

Local businesses create livelihoods and shape neighbourhoods. Amjad wants simpler permits, fewer unnecessary barriers and a dedicated small-business division that makes City support easier to access.

He also proposes attracting private infrastructure investment and exploring naming rights to broaden the ways Ottawa funds its development.

Make getting around work better

His proposed OC Transpo partnership would keep majority control with the City while introducing a private partner and measurable performance standards.

The broader campaign also proposes expanding Ottawa’s road network to address traffic. Specific road projects, costs and timelines have not yet been set out.

Make public spending easier to understand

Amjad wants residents to be able to see where their tax dollars go. Transparency and operational accountability are part of his approach to using public resources and evaluating the services they support.

Compassion with accountability

The campaign also proposes support for families with legitimate asylum claims, with financial assistance repaid once recipients become financially stable.

The definition of financial stability, repayment protections, program scope and responsibilities across governments remain to be developed.
